As the firm’s tax planning subject matter expert, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and expanding a comprehensive tax planning offering. You’ll leverage innovative technology, collaborate directly with advisors and clients, develop proactive tax strategies, and help build scalable processes that enhance the client experience. What You’ll Be Doing:
- Partner directly with financial advisors and clients to deliver comprehensive tax planning strategies and personalized recommendations.
- Develop proactive tax-saving opportunities that align with each client’s financial goals, investment strategies, estate planning, and business interests.
- Meet with clients throughout the year to anticipate tax implications resulting from financial decisions, life events, or changes in business operations.
- Prepare and present tax projections, planning analyses, and strategic recommendations that help clients make informed financial decisions.
- Assist clients with specialized tax planning matters, including inherited IRA distribution calculations and other complex retirement planning strategies.
- Serve as the firm’s expert on tax planning technology by managing, optimizing, and continually enhancing tax planning software and related tools.
- Identify opportunities to expand and improve the firm’s tax planning services as tax laws, technology, and client needs evolve.
- Train and educate financial advisors on tax planning concepts, legislative changes, and planning opportunities that add value for clients.
- Collaborate with firm leadership to establish departmental priorities, implement best practices, and elevate the firm’s tax planning offering.
- Maintain thorough documentation within Salesforce CRM and internal systems, ensuring client records, tax planning analyses, and supporting documentation remain organized and up to date.
- Safeguard confidential client information while adhering to data security, compliance, and regulatory standards.
- Support firm-wide initiatives focused on operational excellence, technology integration, and continuous process improvement.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of progressive tax planning, tax advisory, or public accounting experience, preferably serving high-net-worth individuals and families.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional designation such as CFP®, CPA, EA, MST, or TPCP® highly desired (or actively pursuing one of these credentials).
- Deep technical knowledge of individual income tax planning, retirement distribution strategies, and tax-efficient wealth management.
- Passion for meeting directly with clients and building long-term trusted relationships through exceptional service and expertise.
- Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts in a clear, practical, and client-friendly manner.
- Experience implementing or managing tax planning technology and a genuine interest in leveraging technology to improve client outcomes.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft 365); experience with Salesforce CRM and tax planning software is a plus.
