We are seeking a highly skilled and values-driven Fixed Income Portfolio Manager to lead the design and management of high-quality municipal and taxable fixed-income portfolios. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping client outcomes by delivering consistent, tax-efficient returns aligned with each client’s goals and the firm’s broader investment philosophy. The Fixed Income Portfolio Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing fixed-income strategies across client portfolios, with a primary focus on municipal bonds.

This position requires strong analytical skills, disciplined risk management, and a deep understanding of market dynamics to ensure portfolios remain aligned with client objectives, regulatory requirements, and the firm’s investment philosophy. What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Construct, monitor, and optimize municipal and taxable fixed-income portfolios aligned with clients’ long-term goals and risk profiles.
  • Conduct timely and thorough market research, with an emphasis on the municipal market, credit analysis, and economic trends.
  • Implement strategies designed to enhance portfolio performance, improve tax efficiency, and manage duration, credit, and liquidity risk.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with investment guidelines, regulatory standards, and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through transparent communication, reporting, and education on fixed-income strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with the Planning Team to ensure accurate and efficient execution of investment decisions.
  • Lead and support internal team members, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the firm’s overall strategic direction and long-term growth by identifying opportunities to enhance the investment platform.
  • Maintain portfolios in alignment with the firm’s investment philosophy, emphasizing disciplined risk controls around credit quality, duration, liquidity, and diversification.
  • Actively manage municipal portfolios to optimize tax efficiency through thoughtful structure selection, credit analysis, and opportunistic trading.
  • Develop and execute fixed-income strategies that reflect both current market conditions and long-term macroeconomic themes.
  • Conduct ongoing credit, sector, and relative-value analysis to uncover opportunities and proactively avoid deteriorating credits.
  • Monitor interest-rate movements, yield curve shifts, and economic indicators to inform strategic positioning.
  • Provide original insights and recommendations to the CIO and investment committee, contributing to firmwide strategy discussions.
  • Partner closely with wealth advisors and portfolio management teams to ensure fixed-income allocations support client goals and overall financial plans.
  • Clearly communicate portfolio positioning, performance drivers, and market outlooks to internal stakeholders and, when appropriate, directly to clients.
  • Support advisor education by translating complex fixed-income concepts into accessible, client-friendly explanations.
  • Ensure all trading, reporting, and portfolio activity align with regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate and timely portfolio data, documentation, and analytics within firm systems (e.g., Bloomberg, custodial platforms).
  • Work collaboratively with operations and compliance teams to ensure seamless execution, data integrity, and audit readiness.
  • Stay up to date on market trends, credit developments, regulatory changes, and new fixed-income instruments.
  • Mentor junior analysts or associates to help build the firm’s internal bench of investment talent.
  • Contribute to the firm’s thought leadership through fixed-income updates, research notes, white papers, or client communications.
  • Support firm growth and client retention through strong investment performance, trusted relationships, and clear communication.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • CFA required.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience managing fixed income portfolios or a comparable investment management role.
  • Deep understanding of municipal bond markets, credit research, and fixed-income portfolio construction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of taxable fixed-income sectors, including corporate bonds, Treasuries, and structured products.
  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with portfolio management and analytics tools (Bloomberg, FactSet, or similar systems).
