Judson Group has been retained by a growing wealth management organization to add a Senior Portfolio Manager & Investment Strategist to support a recent acquisition, along with the expansion of the organization and need for a liaison to support investment collaboration, best practices and new ideas across the group.
This role is actively involved in both portfolio management and investment collaboration across the group. The role will touch all aspects of portfolio management, which may include portfolio analysis, macro-economic research, and security level research. Additionally, this role interacts frequently with members of the team (Leadership, Portfolio Management, Operations, Compliance and Sales) to develop and execute new strategies across research, trading and investment strategy and selection.
This is a great role for an individual with a strong portfolio management background, but has an interest in taking on a broader, more strategic role within a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio Management
- Creates, monitors and updates risk profiles and investment allocation models.
- Manages discretionary portfolios in line with specific restrictions and client requirements; monitors relevant compliance metrics and takes action to keep portfolios in tolerance with allocations and Investment Policy Statements (as applicable).
- Provides recommendations for rebalancing portfolios, investing cash, and raising cash consistent with clients’ tax sensitivity, portfolio make-up, manager suitability, and the company’s current investment strategy.
- Interacts with client service team members to coordinate client-specific investment strategies.
- Meets with clients, and prospective clients periodically to review their account activity and financial market conditions.
- Chairs investment committee and oversees macro-economic and fundamental investment research.
Investment Strategy
- Acts as a product and technical expert across the group.
- Leads, participates and contributes to the Investment Resource Group (IRG), a collaborative forum for investment research, ideas and strategy across the group.
- Participates in investment product committees / groups as needed (e.g., building out alternative strategies, structured notes, direct indexing, etc.)
- Maintains an active dialogue with members of the IRG to facilitate generation of new ideas, sharing knowledge and developing best practices.
- Actively contributes to development of investment commentary / communication across the areas of investment trends and outlook or other specific white paper topics.
- Build and maintain relationships with colleagues, peers, and industry groups to keep abreast of industry changes that may be of interest or impact to clients.
- Maintain relationships with consultants, research providers, brokers, and others who are key vendors to the group.
Key Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in portfolio management.
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA and/or CFA or CFP highly preferred.
- Experience with portfolio management, rebalancing, and CRM software preferred.
- Understanding of tax efficient management of portfolios.
- Experience interacting with clients and other portfolio managers / research teams.
- Expert knowledge of financial markets and managing equity, fixed income and alternative portfolios.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong team player.
- Willingness to travel to meet member partners and collaborate with investment professionals.
Compensation:
Competitive base salary with discretionary bonus
