Judson Group has been retained by a very successful Community Bank in the search for a FVP, Controller. This position will report directly to the SVP Controller and will assist with providing a variety of financial reports and data vital to the decision-making process in developing and executing the Bank strategic plan. Additionally, this position will focus on building out and managing various aspects of the accounting department, including analytics, internal reporting, SEC filings, regulatory reporting, accounting operations, systems, ALCO, budget and strategy, and assisting with board and investor presentations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the SVP Controller with reviewing financial data for a broad range of areas and business units within the Bank
  • Clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; work with staff to provide budget to actual variance reporting; assist with earnings release, SEC filings and investor presentations
  • May lead bank wide projects focused on financial reporting and metrics; work to enhance and/or develop forecasting and budget variance reporting
  • Lead or take a primary role in the annual budget and planning process; consistently monitor business performance metrics
  • Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes by evaluating accounting and internal control systems
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of current accounting software applications and databases as necessary
  • Support CFO in engaging the board’s audit and finance committees related to trends or issues within the financial operating model
  • Assist internal/external auditors and regulators with their respective engagement
  • May participate in executing the company’s strategic plan to meet the bank’s overall competitive position

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of experience in a financial institution or finance industry; and 5-7 years of experience working for a publicly traded company and knowledgeable in SEC reporting requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred; CPA
  • Advanced knowledge in financial planning, modeling, and analysis
  • Proficient with ALCO reporting/analysis; strong understanding of budgeting/forecasting/profitability reporting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; strong familiarity with general ledger and financial reporting applications
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication
