Judson Group has been retained by a very successful Community Bank in the search for a Senior Vice President, Director of Internal Audit. This position reports to the audit committee of Bank Board of Directors and has an administrative link to the President/CEO of the Bank. This position plans, organizes, and directs the internal audit program for the Bank and its affiliates, and periodically reports the results of the audits performed.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all internal audit activities for the corporation, bank, and its affiliates
- Develop an annual risk-based audit plan and schedule that is reviewed and approved by the audit committee and shared with executive management of the corporation
- Coordinate audit committee meetings with the chairman of the committee and the executive management team including preparing meeting agendas, writing and presenting summary reports highlighting the results of recently completed audits, and keeping the official minutes for all meetings of the Bank Audit Committee
- Review work papers prepared by department auditors, edit draft audit reports, and approve final audit reports
- Coordinate & manages the department’s involvement with the annual SOX 404 control certification and testing
- Serve as the primary whistleblower contact following up on complaints and conducting investigations as determined to be appropriate by the chairman of the audit committee, reporting the results of any reviews or investigations to the audit committee, and coordinating the annual testing of the Whistleblower Hotline
- Provide/coordinate assistance to external auditors and federal and state regulators by collecting and uploading requested reports/information from various areas of the bank to their respective secured web sites and participating in pre-engagement and exit meetings
- Arbitrate disagreements between auditors and bank management when disputes arise due to audit ratings, specific audit exceptions, or degree of risk perceived and noted in the audit reports
- Participate or sends an audit representative to meetings involving new products or services when audit presence is requested or deemed necessary
- Participate in the annual meeting of shareholders, serving as the Inspector of Election
- Manage/participate in fraud investigations and due diligence reviews of potential acquisitions
- Provide training/coaching/annual performance evaluations of staff
Requirements:
- At least 7 years of experience in bank auditing, accounting, compliance, or finance related areas
- Minimum 5 years of management experience
- Bachelor’s degree and professional designation – CPA, CIA, CFSA, CISA preferred
- Extensive knowledge of banking laws, regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles including banking policies and procedures for all areas
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, presentation, communication, and organizational skills
