Judson Group has been retained by a comprehensive wealth management firm in the search for a Head of Tax Planning. This individual will be responsible for the firm’s tax planning services for clients and leading relationships with clients’ outside advisors. This person is not responsible for direct preparation of tax returns and tax compliance. The ideal candidate will be passionate about connecting tax planning with wealth management and have a superior client service mindset.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee tax planning initiatives, including best practices, objectives, and timelines.
  • Provide tax compliance oversight and process.
  • Be the expert on tax planning resources such as tax planning software for the firm.
  • Maintain the client relationships, administration, and servicing of all tax needs of clients.
  • Participate in client meetings and lead tax planning discussions.
  • Review all tax documents, ensuring accuracy and troubleshooting potential tax issues.
  • Perform tax planning and review tax projections.
  • Lead internal efforts to educate team members on tax planning.
  • Develop relationships with outside tax preparers and other tax professionals and CPAs.
  • Stay current on tax planning topics, trends, and research.

Requirements:

  • Accounting Degree or a related field; CPA highly preferred. CFP/EA desired.
  • 5+ years of HNW/UHNW tax planning experience.
  • Audit and/or compliance experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge and passion for tax services and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Organized and detail oriented while managing and prioritizing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
