Judson Group has been retained to add a Financial Planning Department Manager to the team of a growing, multi-billion-dollar RIA in Northern Virginia. This position works collaboratively with client service/planning teams on training, delegating task flow, financial planning, investment management and tax services for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead support to the Director of Financial Planning
  • Support Financial Planning Director on the execution of the firm’s long-term strategic goals and progress toward key planning and client experience initiatives.
  • Serve as team lead delegating task flow for the Associate team which operate as a pooled resource for the client service teams.
  • Lead training program for Associates & Senior Associates.
  • Serve as a “technical” coach to Associate, Senior Associates, Managers.
  • Support the re-development of a streamlined financial planning process to include implementation of client segmentation and alignment of services for clients.
  • Support the Financial Planning Director in development and communication of financial planning best practices for delivery to client service teams to include writing instructional publications.
  • Review financial plans prepared by Associate/ Senior Associate Financial Planners as a peer reviewer and technical training.
  • Take a leadership role in relevant Financial Planning Department projects.
  • Participate in relevant committees that advance the goals of the Financial Planning Department – assume leadership of certain committees where needed and upon request of the Financial Planning Director.
  • Stay abreast of financial planning technology through relevant conference participation and peer group networks (relevant conferences can include but are not limited to Financial Planning software such as E-Money and Financial Planning operational conferences).
  • Provide back-up support to client service teams and Tax Director on review of income tax projections and returns.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, or Economics preferred.
  • Required certifications: CFP®
  • Deep understanding of the financial planning process and related client servicing needs.
  • High proficiency with financial planning software and other related technology tools.
  • Experience managing complex projects requiring multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience with financial services operations
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
